University of Florida Graduate Scholarship
The Department of Psychology annually offers the University of Florida Graduate Scholarship and receives over 350 applications annually for her Ph.D. programs. The incoming class each year ranges from 15 to 25 students.
The department’s admissions process is centered within our areas of specialization (behavior analysis, behavioral and cognitive neurosciences, counseling, developmental, social).
Area faculty independently review applications and make recommendations for admission and funding to a department-wide committee that makes the final decision on funding offers.
Requirements for The University of Florida Scholarship 2024
The following are the eligibility requirements for the scholarship program. Admission Consideration are on the basis of the following factors:
- Undergraduate preparation:
- at least one course in statistics
- at least one course in each of the following areas of Psychology:
- Biological bases (physio, sensory, comparative)
- Developmental Changes (child/adolescent, lifespan)
- Learning and Cognition (behavioral analysis, cognitive processes)
- Sociocultural/Individual differences (social, personality, abnormal)
- Recent entering graduate classes had an average grade point average (GPA) for the last two years of 3.8. Applicants with an overall GPA below 3.0 will receive consideration only under special circumstances.
- Research experience
- Relevant volunteer/work experience
- Letters of recommendation
- Perhaps most importantly, match between student and faculty research interests.
- All first-year students will get funding, and funding is available through 5 years for all students making good progress in the program.
- Assistantships are awarded based on actual or potential teaching ability, research and technology skills, or other special expertise.
- Graduate teaching and research assistants typically have their in-state and out-of-state tuition costs waived.
- The stipend is $25,000 for a 12-month appointment plus a tuition waiver for each of 4 years.
