Travel Insurance
Travel insurance safeguards your entire journey by protecting you against major financial losses during foreign and domestic trips, offering coverage for sudden medical & trip-related emergencies. Travel Insurance offers multiple benefits like cashless hospitalisations*, loss or delay of checked-in baggage, flight delays, passport loss/theft, trip cancellations and more. Travel insurance is the assurance that your journey will be protected and insured from possible risks that may come unexpectedly on unknown lands. Depending on where you’re going, the purpose of your visit and how often you travel, you can select a travel insurance policy that best suits your needs.
What is Travel Insurance?
A travel insurance plan helps to cover financial emergencies during your trip. These financial emergencies are costs that arise from circumstances out of your control. For example, if you require urgent medical attention, hospitalisation due to an accident, or your flight is delayed or you lose your luggage, travel insurance would cover these expenses.
This financial coverage will be available for your entire trip, even if you’re travelling to multiple countries. You can also customize the extent of your coverage under your travel insurance policy based on your destination and trip purpose. Here are the expenses that travel insurance plans offer coverage for:
- Medical Emergencies/Hospitalisation expenses abroad
- Personal liability and legal fees
- Baggage loss, delay and theft
- Medical evacuation and repatriation
- Non-refundable paid fees from trip delays and cancellations
- Loss or theft of passport and other travel documents
- Aircraft hijacking
- Emergency cash advance for theft or loss of credit cards and cheques
- Cover for adventure sports*
- Loss or theft of portable electronic items*
- Cover for missed cruise*
Many countries actually require travellers to buy travel insurance to be eligible for their visa application processes. In other words, you can’t visit these countries unless you have both a valid visa and travel insurance from India.

Domestic Travel Insurance
A domestic travel insurance plan covers trips taken within geographical scope of India. You receive coverage for personal liability, medical emergencies, baggage loss etc. You can also choose to include the family members you’re travelling with under this plan.
Student Travel Insurance
A student travel insurance plan is specifically designed for students between the ages of 16 and 35 travelling overseas for higher education. On top of basic travel insurance coverage, it offers unique benefits like study interruption and sponsor protection, where unused tuition is reimbursed if you are not able to continue your studies or in the event of your sponsor’s death or disablement.
Senior Citizen Travel Insurance
Specifically made for travellers over the age of 71 with coverage up to $10,00,000(Travel Guard Plus)for travel-related emergencies unique to them. Single-Trip Travel Insurance
A single-trip travel insurance plan covers a single trip and the maximum number of days that will be insured during one trip will be 360 days, with coverage up to $10,00,000(Travel Guard Plus).
